Hamilton Accies players WALK OUT over unpaid wages as Championship return plans thrown into turmoil
Hamilton's preparations for their Championship return have been thrown into turmoil by a mass walkout.
Accies players and coaches refused to train on Wednesday because some of their staff hadn’t received their July wages. Hamilton claimed it was a global internet banking issue and is looking to get all outstanding payments made as quickly as possible. John Rankin’s first-team squad refused to train and left the stadium to make their point to their hierarchy this morning An apology has been issued by the club to the staff who have been affected.
The club is adamant it is an error that was outwith their control. It is far from ideal preparation for Accies who take on Ayr United in their league opener on Saturday. If payments aren’t paid by Friday then the Accies group could refuse to train again, although the club is confident the issue will be resolved. Manager John Rankin led his team back into the second tier via the play-offs last season.
