Hamilton Accies boss reveals star was sick three times against Inverness as players play through illness for survival cause

Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin says players are running themselves into the ground for their survival cause after revealing SPFL Trust Trophy hero Reghan Tumilty played through illness on Tuesday night - and was sick three times.

The New Douglas Park side fell to a 2-1 defeat to Inverness after taking the lead with just 18 minutes remaining to keep them in the relegation play-off spot with just two games to go.

They must now get positive results in their next two games against Partick on Saturday and Arbroath on May 5 to give them the best chance of avoiding automatic relegation, whilst hoping results go against bottom side Cove Rangers to ensure the worst Accies end up with is a play-off spot.

And Rankin dismissed any notion that his players aren't up for the fight, with his charges going the extra mile for the cause.

He said: "People will question the players and how they are at this moment in time - they are giving us absolutely everything.

"I can tell by the spirit in there. They are running through brick walls for us and you can see each of them looking at each other and being ready to go, because they know what their team-mates are doing for them.

"Reegan Mimnaugh was ill for 10 days and he showed great spirit to get through an hour of the game on Tuesday, having been out for so long.

"Reghan Tumilty came off [after 69 minutes] and spewed three times at the side of the pitch, so he was going through the pain barrier. He had been feeling sick and we could see he was tiring in the game.

"These players are emptying their tanks for us and you've got to admire that.

"Everybody in the club realises the position we are in and we are striving to get up the table.

"We know what it has to take and we are prepared to do it.
