Hamilton 1 Dunfermline 0: Reghan Tumilty helps Accies pick up first win back in the Championship

Hamilton Accies landed their first victory back in the Scottish Championship after a narrow win over struggling Dunfermline.

Reghan Tumilty's bullet header midway through the first half proved enough to land a precious three points and it leaves rock bottom Pars pointless in the Championship, on a run of six straight defeats in all competitions.

Accies - who were promoted from League One via the play-off last term - had started the campaign with two defeats to Ayr either side of a hard-fought draw at Morton.

So after a lot of late pressure on the Accies goal, boss John Rankin will be relieved to get that first win under his belt, which takes the South Lanarkshire side up to fifth in the table.

Accies made just one change from the side which lost 3-2 at Ayr last week, with Euan Henderson falling to the bench to be replaced by Ben Williamson in the Hamilton midfield.

Following a minute's applause in memory of lifelong Accies fan, 93-year-old Dr Sandy Walker, it was the hosts who created the first opoortunity in the 19th minute with a flowing, one-touch move.

Scott Martin collected the ball in midfield, spun his marker and played a one-two with Stephen Hendrie then slipping him in down the left for a cross. The wing-back whipped in a tremendous delivery to the back post for Kevin O'Hara, who caught it on the volley and forced Pars keeper Denis Mehmet into a stunning one-handed save, tipping the ball onto the crossbar.

Moments later, Oli Shaw drilled the ball across the face of goal for Reghan Tumilty at the back post and his fierce strike was blocked well from six-yards out.
