Hairy Bikers' Si King wanted to 'ride into sunset and never come back' amid Dave Myers death 'struggle'

Si King has spoken about the 'struggle' he has faced following the death of his best friend and co-star Dave Myers. The TV chef and one half of the Hairy Bikers duo sadly passed away in February, aged 66, following a cancer diagnosis.

Si announced the sad news of Dave's death in a heartbreaking message shared on social media, in which he confirmed he, Dave's wife Liliana Orzac, his family and close friend David were all by his side as he sadly passed on February 28, just under two years after he revealed he’d been diagnosed with cancer in May 2022.

In a first-person article for The Sunday Times, Si, 57, has given a candid account of how he's felt since the loss of his friend of 30 years and said: “I’ll be honest with you, the past few months have been a struggle.

The pair met in 1992 and King said their relationship “was sealed over a tandoori chicken masala, four poppadoms and three pints of lager”. Their first TV appearance together was The Hairy Bikers’ Cookbook in 2004, which was part cooking show and part travel programme and in the first episode the duo rode the length of Portugal.
