Ruben Amorim is set to arrive at Manchester United with the club at its lowest ebb after Erik ten Hag's era.
United have stuttered to their worst start to a Premier League campaign ever, with the 2-1 defeat at West Ham, however unfortunate that was, being Ten Hag's last act as manager. Ineos have moved quickly to try and replace the Dutchman with Amorim deemed their preferred option.
Sporting insisted on Tuesday that United were willing to pay £8.3m to compensate for Amorim's departure and it now appears to be only a matter of time before the 39-year-old is unveiled at Old Trafford. With that in mind, The Manchester Evening News has taken a look at what would be the dream scenario for Amorim, and the club, in the remainder of this season, while also moving towards next summer.

Very few players can hold their heads up in the United dressing room and insist they have performed to the pique of their capabilities this season. Perhaps one of the more frustrating starts to the campaign has come from captain Bruno Fernandes.
He has shone on occasion, but it has not come nearly enough to help push this team out of the doldrums of mid-table - and lower mid-table at that. Fortunately, Amorim is a player familiar to Fernandes and the Portuguese star has already spoken highly of the next United manager.
Amorim's style of play looks to exploit the attacking midfielder's role, and Fernandes will hopefully benefit from a coach looking to make him the focal point of the squad. Should he manage to revive his form, United could be on to a good thing once again this season.
