Guimaraes sends possible cryptic message to Eddie Howe at Newcastle on Instagram

Newcastle United January signing Bruno Guimaraes has taken to Instagram to display the extra work that he is putting in off the field to make sure he is ready for his full debut.

Guimaraes signed for Newcastle in January for £40m and has featured four times off the bench since, but is yet to make his full debut from the off.

The Brazilian midfielder made 20 appearances in Ligue 1 for Lyon this season before making the move to St. James’s Park in a deal that excited the Newcastle faithful.

After the Magpies fans showed their frustrations that they haven’t seen Guimaraes from the start yet, the 24-year-old took to Instagram and posted a gym video on his story, implying that he is putting in the hard work:

TIF Thoughts on the Bruno Guimaraes situation…

Bruno Guimaraes is a midfielder who is not scared of a tackle and has a good range of passing, as per WhoScored, but has failed to register a start under Eddie Howe at Newcastle since his arrival.

The midfield trio of Jonjo Shelvey, Joelinton, and Joe Willock have come to life in recent times, meaning that Guimaraes has had to watch on from the sidelines and wait for his chance.

As per SofaScore, Shelvey has achieved match ratings of 7.1 and 7.2 in his previous two games, whilst Joelinton got a 7.7 rating in his last game against Brentford. Willock, meanwhile, has scored in his last two games.

Although the trio have been in form difficult to separate, the Instagram Story from Guimaraes may be a hidden message that he is preparing for his first start in a Newcastle shirt this weekend when Brighton & Hove Albion travel to St. James’ Park.
