Group rallies support for traditional games as Lagos draught competition gets date

TRS Promotions has emphasised the need to create a legacy for traditional games to promote youth development and social cohesion, as well as help showcase the country’s potential in sports and tourism.

This is just as TRS Promotions General Manager, Tunde Amosu, hinted that the first Lagos State International Draught Championship would hold from November 1 to December 16, 2023 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

Amosun said at the unveiling of the competition’s brand logo that the event would bring to limelight the beauty of the traditional game of draught and showcase the sporting and tourism potentials of Lagos.

He said the draught competition is a brainchild of TRS Promotions in partnership with the Lagos State Sports Commission and Rattawu Lagos State Council as a media partner.

Amosun said the winner of the tournament will receive N3 million, the first runner up will pocket N2 million, while the second runner up will go home with N1 million. There will be consolation prizes for other participants, he said.

“The ideas of this initiative is to bring to limelight the beauty of this traditional game of draught and at the same time, showcasing the sporting and tourism potentials of Lagos State.

“However, one notable aspect of this event is that it will provide remuneration and rewards for participants and also give them compensation for their love for the game.”
