Grizzlies' Brooks suspended for Game 3 vs. Warriors
Canadian Dillon Brooks of the Memphis Grizzlies will miss Game 3 of the team's second-round series against the Golden State Warriors after he was suspended one game for a flagrant foul in Game 2.
Brooks was suspended for the Flagrant 2 foul on Gary Payton II in Game 2 that resulted in a fractured elbow.
Brooks received the foul and was ejected within a few minutes of tip-off Tuesday night after he smacked Warriors guard Gary Payton II in the head during a layup attempt.
Payton II fractured his left elbow on the play and is expected to miss approximately a month with the injury.
Brooks, a 26-year-old native of Mississauga, Ont., had a solid season in 2021-22 despite missing over half the campaign with various injuries, averaging 18.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists over 32 games.
Additionally, Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green was fined $25,000 on Thursday for "directing an obscene gesture toward the spectator stands."
The best-of-seven series is knotted at a game apiece with Game 3 set for Saturday night in California.
