Grinning rapist on run from police known to have links with Greater Manchester

A registered sex offender with links to Wigan is on the run.

Martin Travis is wanted by Lancashire Police for failing to appear at court and for a breach of a court order. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) Lancashire Police issued an appeal for anyone with information about Travis to come forward.

Lancashire Police said Martin Travis failed to appear at magistrates last month and for a breach of his notification requirements. Officers believe the 32-year-old is 'in company with a vulnerable female and is possibly sleeping rough'.

Travis, who is also known to have links to Southport, Liverpool and Blackpool, is a convicted rapist and was sentenced to six years in prison in 2014. In 2017, just one month after being released on licence Travis was wanted by police again after breaking his licensing conditions, reports the Liverpool Echo.

In a statement on Facebook this afternoon (December 11), a force spokesperson said: "Have you seen Martin Travis? He’s wanted for failing to appear at magistrates last month and for a breach of his notification requirements.

"Travis is a registered sex offender. He is 32, white, five ft 11ins, thin build, short dark brown straight hair, dark brown beard, brown eyes, northwest accent.

"Travis is believed to in company with a vulnerable female and is possibly sleeping rough. He has links to Blackpool, Liverpool, Southport and Wigan.
