Grimsby Town CEO Debbie Cook confirms overseas training trip

Grimsby Town CEO Debbie Cook has announced the club is set to head off on pre-season training trip prior to the start of the 22/23 EFL League Two campaign.

Having enjoyed a strong off season thus far, Paul Hurst's side have recorded victories over Cleethorpes Town and Alfreton Town, whilst also holding League One outfit Lincoln City to a 0-0 draw most recently.

With the Mariners first game of the new season scheduled for July 30 against Leyton Orient, Cook has praised the team's effort as a collective, following her appointment last year.

''The squad are going out to Tenerife and they'll be having four days out there and I think that's great in terms of when you look back at the success that we had last season,'' began Town's CEO, as she spoke to BBC Radio Humberside yesterday. ''If you summed that up in one word across the whole football club - that word would be togetherness.

Guiding the side to a second promotion under his tenure, the former Ipswich boss will be looking to build on strong platforms. With both he and his assistant praised for their commitment to the cause thus far.

''The work that Paul [Hurst] and Chris [Doig] do with the football team is vital. They are having four days in Tenerife but they won't be playing any other teams whilst their out there, they'll just be doing 11 v 11 whilst out there. Hopefully they're all looking forward too it, they will be going away on Friday.''

With attention now turning to the sides season opener against the O's in just over a weeks time, the club have confirmed 1250 tickets have been released for away fans. With a whole host of new faces expected to be on show too, excitement is beginning to build within the club's fanbase.
