Greggs fans' 'prayers answered' as bakery teases return of popular item

Greggs fans reckon their 'prayers have been answered' after the bakery teased the return of a vegan fan-favourite.

The popular Vegan Steak Bake is expected to make a comeback very soon, with the chain dropping hints across Instagram and X, formerly Twitter. The Vegan Steal Bake is exactly that - a vegan alternative to the staple Steak Bake.

It's made with pieces of Quorn instead of beef, and includes onions and meat-free gravy, all encased in a flaky, puff pastry shell. The pasty first launched in 2020 in honour of Veganuary, but wasn't on offer for too long.

Fans have missed the Vegan Steak Bake, with many hoping for its long-awaited return as the New Year fast approaches. The bakery has expanded its veggie and vegan items though, including its Vegan Sausage Roll, Vegan Festive Bake and Bean and CheeZe Melt.

One fan took to X to ask the bakery chain when the Vegan Steak Bake would coming back. The official Greggs account cheekily responded: "The Vegan Steak Bake is [REDACTED] on [REDACTED] - hope that helps!"

Over on their Instagram Stories, the account shared a screenshot of a tweet which read: "Don't think I'll ever forgive Greggs for removing the vegan steak bake of their menu tbh..." Captioning the post, Greggs responded: "What if we said we're sorry' with a pleading-face emoji.
