Greg Taylor takes Celtic positives after swerving Scotland 'huff' after quickfire Euro exit

The wedding went without a hitch. The same couldn’t be said for Scotland’s Euros campaign. But Greg Taylor admits it’s now time to park his wild summer and set his sights on the thrill ride ahead at Celtic.

The Parkhead ace won’t forget the past few months, that’s for sure. Taylor was tearing it up with Celts in the sprint towards a Premiership and Scottish Cup double before making it a dream treble by walking down the aisle with new bride Laura. The honeymoon had to wait as he headed to Germany with Scotland – where Taylor was one of the squad’s bridesmaids as Steve Clarke’s men’s campaign got annulled after the group stage.

Talk about a rollercoaster few weeks. Taylor said: “It’s mad, isn’t it? You win the Cup Final and do a double and have the elation of that and then you take that all into the week of your wedding, which was amazing. Then the Euros which was an unbelievable experience. But don’t get me wrong, it didn’t end the way we wanted to. We wanted to go through the group and we didn’t manage to do that.

“You’d rather be there than not. You’re in such a privileged position to go with your national team to a major tournament, there’s not many people who’ve managed to do it. To get to do it twice is pinch-me stuff. We would have loved to have stayed, would have loved to have been through the group, but everyone’s got other things they’d like to have done.”

Taylor didn’t take the huff at the Euro disappointment – as he didn’t want to end up in the wife’s bad books right from the off. He said: “You’ve got to [move on], that’s football. So no, I managed to park it pretty quick because I had to. You’ve got a new season starting and it’s not fair. You’re away with, as I said, my new wife and holidays.
