Greg Taylor in mysterious Scotland absence as 'Celtic matter' behind Steve Clarke squad omission

Steve Clarke says Greg Taylor is "fine" and revealed his absence from the Scotland squad is down to "one or two little" issues at Celtic.

Clarke announced his squad to face Cyprus and Spain later this month and it was mostly as you were from the Tartan Army boss. Norwich keeper Angus Gunn was the only new face as he stuck largely to what has worked for him in the past, but one or two players were conspicuous by their absence.

Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland was left out despite Robbie Neilson playing down his injury while Taylor, normally a fixture in the squads even if he hasn't played much ahead of Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney, was also a peculiar absence. He's been struggling with an injury at Celtic recently and many fans put two and two together there but Clarke says he's "fine."

But the Scotland boss refused to elaborate on exactly why he's missing as he said: "I know Greg very very well. We have a good relationship. I have had a chat with him and he is fine. There are one or two little issues around that one, which is not for me to say. It is a Celtic matter."
