Greater Manchester to be hotter than European sunspots this weekend - but thunderstorms are forecast for some
Greater Manchester is set to bask in glorious sunshine during parts of this weekend. Temperatures are expected to climb to 22C across much of the region tomorrow (May 18), according to the Met Office.
Sunday is currently expected to see dazzling sunshine throughout the day. In fact, temperatures in Manchester are expected to be hotter than many parts of Europe over the next three days - including Barcelona, where temperatures are not expected to rise above 20C.
But it won't be wall-to-wall sunshine for everyone. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Saturday in some parts of Greater Manchester.

And while it will be a warm Friday to kick-start the weekend, it will mostly be an overcast one. Although the heat is set to rise over the coming days, the Met Office says it isn't quite at the levels of a heatwave.
In our corner of the country, that would mean three consecutive days at 25C for this time of year. With a warm weekend in stall for Greater Manchester, here's the forecast in full, borough-by-borough.
