Greater Manchester's oldest family-run bakery goes up for sale after 159 years

It's survived two World Wars, the Covid-19 pandemic and skyrocketing energy bills since its establishment in 1864, but now the owners of Robinson's bakery in Failsworth have confirmed the time has come to put the shop up for sale.

Established 159 years ago in Harpurhey before relocating to Failsworth in 1954, the bakery, run by David Robinson and his family has long been the go to for breads, bakes and its famed Manchester tart. However, David, who has been working in the bakery for 53 years has decided its time to hang up the apron and retire, while his daughter Grace, who now runs the bakery, is perusing other exciting opportunities.

Over the weekend, the family took to social media to announce the bakery was being put up for sale, and encouraged followers to share the news with anyone who might be interested in taking over. Grace wrote on Instagram and Facebook: "Well the time has come for us put our bakery up for sale.

"As crazy as this is, as we are busier than ever, it is the right decision for us as a family.
