Greater Manchester Lidl store near Co-op Live honours Liam Gallagher with a blue plaque ahead of big shows

A supermarket in Greater Manchester has given Liam Gallagher a blue plaque after he said he would be up for performing a gig in Lidl.

The former Oasis frontman went viral last month after he simply posted ‘Gig in LIDL’ to his 3.6 million followers on X. The widely-shared post was met with memes and jokes from fans, with Lidl even chiming in themselves by posting: “We're gonna roll with it.”

But, now, ahead of Liam’s big shows at Co-op Live this weekend, it appears Lidl are still keen to extend the invite for the singer to rock up and perform an impromptu gig at one of the supermarket’s stores.

A Lidl spokesperson says: "Our hopes of an iconic Lidl x Liam crossover might not have come to fruition just yet, but we’re hoping the dream will ‘Live Forever’ with our tribute to what could have been."

On Saturday and Sunday night (June 15 and 16), Liam will bring his Definitely Maybe 30 Years tour to Co-op Live. The tour, which is supported by fellow Britpop band Cast, has been well-received since kicking off in London last week.

As the name implies, the show marks the 30th anniversary of Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe, which was released in August 1994 and featured mega-hits Rock n Roll Star, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Slide Away, Live Forever and Supersonic.
