Grealish warns Premier League, CL to brace for Haaland, Man City impact and sets own worries straight

Jack Grealish has warned that Erling Haaland is sure to help continue Manchester City’s dominance of the Premier League title race and push them on in the Champions League.

City claimed their fourth title in five years last month, edging Liverpool out by a point for a second time. What’s more, Pep Guardiola’s side finished with over 90 points for a third time in that five-year spell.

But amid the consistency at the top, the one key criticism that has been levelled at City is the lack of an out-and-out goalscorer.

Nevertheless, the champions look to have plugged that gap with the signing of Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. The 21-year-old scored 86 goals in 89 appearances for the German club.

Grealish therefore feels excited to link up with “probably the best striker in the world”. Haaland will add to City’s wealth of options up top including Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez.

Grealish, speaking to the Daily Mirror, added when asked if he can build an instant rapport with the Norwegian: “I hope so. But I’m sure there are a lot of people in our team that are thinking the same.

“It’s not just about me. I’m sure he will have a good understanding with Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden, Raheem [Sterling], everyone in those forward positions.

“I’m looking forward to playing with him. Who wouldn’t be? As a No.9, he’s definitely in the top two, top one in the world. I can’t wait for next season.”

As for Grealish’s personal achievements, the 26-year-old looked to find his feet in his debut season at City.

He only scored six goals and assisted four others but added that his main goal at his new club is to collect winners’ medals.
