Grealish, Haaland, Phillips - How Man City could line up vs Celtic and Barcelona in pre-season

With Euro 2024 kicking off on Friday night, all attentions will firmly be on international action in Germany for the next month.

City have more players representing their countries than any other Premier League club, and their transfer business will likely be hampered by the world's best players either at the Euros or the Copa America.

Shortly after the final in Berlin next month, City will return to the City Football Academy to look ahead to next season. However, it's likely that most of their senior players will be enjoying some well-earned time off rather than jetting out to the USA for City's pre-season tour.

As a result, Pep Guardiola's squad to take in four friendlies in the states looks set to be a mix of those players not at the summer tournaments and a number of academy faces looking to impress the manager.

City take on Celtic in North Carolina in 40 days time for their first friendly, before heading to New York to take on AC Milan at the iconic Yankee Stadium. A trip down to Orlando to face Barcelona awaits, before a match-up with Premier League rivals Chelsea in Columbus, Ohio - with the London club now managed by former Blues assistant Enzo Maresca.

A week after that Chelsea clash is the Community Shield vs Manchester United, where some of Guardiola's key men may have returned. A two week tour of the US may have earned some fringe players a spot at Wembley, however, with the best-available starting XI in the states a mix of big names, forgotten faces and promising academy players.
