Grant McCann's classy message for Hull City after Tigers secure Championship status

Former Hull City boss Grant McCann showed his class with a message for the Tigers after securing their Championship status. A 1-0 win against promotion chasing Middlesbrough ensured City cannot be caught by the sides currently in the bottom three.

Keane Lewis-Potter's strike gave Hull their first win in a staggering 23 games to dent Boro's promotion bid. Shota Arveladze's side are 15 points clear of Barnsley, and can now look forward to spending a second campaign in the second tier.

It's been far from straightforward for the Georgian boss, with City struggling to pick up points. It's fair to say the work done by McCann at the start of the season played a large part in their survival.

The former Tigers boss showed no ill-feeling towards his former club, wishing them well after their 12th win of the campaign. McCann tweeted: "Huge congrats to all at Hull City on their survival, a bigger achievement in my eyes than the promotion last season."

McCann will be hoping to pull off the impossible with his current club Peterborough United who are rock bottom of the division.
