Grand National 2024 runners as full entry list confirmed for Aintree race

The 2024 Grand National has a full list of 94 entries for the Aintree showpiece race.

Corach Rambler, last year's winner, is set to defend his title on April 13th, with a record 61 of the initial entries being trained in Ireland. The race will also start earlier, at 4pm.

Lucinda Russell's 10-year old is preparing for both the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup next month and a return to Aintree in April. Last March, Corach Rambler won back-to-back victories in the Ultima Handicap at Cheltenham, giving Russell her second win after One For Arthur's success six years ago.

With Derek Fox as his jockey, who also rode One For Arthur to victory, Corach Rambler won the world's greatest steeplechase last April, beating Irish raider Vanillier by two-and-a-quarter-lengths. Russell's wins have interrupted the recent Irish dominance, with five of the past seven winners coming from Ireland.

Corach Rambler, who came fifth at Kelso in October and third to Royal Pagaille at Haydock Park the next month, is now eyeing the Gold Cup at Cheltenham. The team behind him are more interested in this race than going for a record third win in the Ultima.

The Grand National is still their main goal though. Corach Rambler has odds of 16-1 with William Hill, Skybet, bet365 and Unibet to win jump racing's greatest prize again.

Noble Yeats, one of many Irish horses in the race, won the National in 2022. It was jockey Sam Waley-Cohen's last ride before he retired.

Noble Yeats was the first seven-year-old to win the world's biggest steeplechase since Bogskar in 1940. Emmet Mullins' horse also came fourth when he tried to defend his title at Aintree a year ago, after coming fourth in the Gold Cup at Prestbury Park the month before.
