Gran Turismo 7: Update with three new cars coming this week

A fresh Gran Turismo 7 update is set to release this week, bringing with it three new cars.

Video Games Chronicle has posted an article citing a tweet from the game’s producer, Kazunori Yamauchi, which simply read: “Update is coming next week.”

The tweet was joined by an image of three cars shrouded in silhouette.

GT Planet, the Gran Turismo news site, has made the claim to have identified two of the three cars already.

The top car is said to be the Toyota GR010, a Le Mans Hypercar. The bottom right car in the image is said to be the GoPro Rampage 1970 Camaro.

The third car is unclear at this stage, with even GT Planet struggling to identify it, but they claim that it may well be a C3-generation Corvette.

The addition of the Toyota would make a lot of sense, given that an online tournament is on the way that is titled ‘2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing GT Cup’.

That competition is set to use the GR010 in one of its races in June.

Gran Turismo 7 was updated on April 25, with a patch titled version 1.13, and that patch brought with it three new cars.

There were two Subarus and a Suzuki added to the title, and a new track – Spa-Francorchamps with the 24-hour layout.

GT7 has been a hit with a number of critics since its release, receiving a Metacritic score of 87 from 119 critic reviews.

However, the user score has been much, much worse, with 10,397 ratings handed out by players, giving it a score of just 2.

That is Sony’s lowest-ever user score for a game they have published, and may have something to do with the sheer amount of microtransactions that are included in the game.

It is also an always-online title, meaning an internet connection is required even if the player simply wants to race offline.
