Gran Turismo 7 receives glowing reviews ahead of release

The developers of Gran Turismo 7 may have produced another diamond in the rough as far as its virtual driving series is concerned.

Polyphony Digital are set to unleash the seventh mainline edition of the long-running franchise to the world on Friday, and critics have been immensely pleased with their first-hand experience of the game.

It was arguably the first Gran Turismo, launched back in 1998 for the PlayStation 1, helped put Sony on the gaming map, which to this day is still one of the highest-ranked games of all time (via Metacritic).

With this being their first launch for PS5, big expectations were placed on the shoulders of Polyphony to produce a racing worthy of holding the title of ‘next-generation.’

Despite this pressure from their fanbase and gaming nostalgists, it appears that they may have pulled this off with the latest game.

A large array of gaming reviewers have put their thoughts forward on Gran Turismo 7 and the average scorers are accumulated on Metacritic.

At the time of writing, the Metascore stands at an impressive 88 from 75 critic reviews. Hardcore Gamer described Gran Turismo 7 as a “quintessential Gran Turismo and the best of what the series has accrued over its 25 years of existence.”

The Daily Star said that “it is much more accessible than before but still retains all that juicy motorsport detail under the hood. A little more of the fun factor on the next iteration will elevate this series even further.”
