Gran's Morocco holiday from hell after she thought she was just suffering indigestion at breakfast

A gran-of-three who started with indigestion at breakfast endured a holiday from hell after not realising the signs that she was actually having a heart attack.

Tina Murphy, from Burnage, had travelled to Marrakesh, Morocco, with her partner John and his parents for a family break.

But what she hoped would be a relaxing week away soon turned into five days of terror after she was rushed to hospital and bed-bound for the rest of her stay.

And the language barrier with Moroccan doctors meant they even had to rely on Google Translate on their phones to try and explain what was going on.

The south Manchester housing association worker is bravely speaking out now two years after she suffered the attack in November 2019, as the NHS launches its new campaign to tackle heart attack myths in North West.

It comes after local health chiefs warned that thousands of deaths could be prevented with earlier treatment if people recognise the vital signs.

"We were all so excited for the holiday and landed on the Friday, November 26," Tina, now 57, told the Manchester Evening News.

"On the Monday morning we had gone down for breakfast and I told my husband I had really bad indigestion which kept coming and going in waves.

"A little later into the breakfast, I realised I couldn't eat anything and started getting these strange feelings of pressure on my chest. It felt like something was stuck.

"I started to feel worse as we sat by the pool. By midday I had this tightening pain in my chest and my right arm started to ache really badly from my elbow right up to my neck.
