Graeme Souness sends Harry Kane transfer advice with striker facing Tottenham ‘dilemma’

Graeme Souness believes Harry Kane should be asking some serious questions about Tottenham’s transfer policy before signing a new deal at the club.

The striker began the season slowly, netting just one goal in his first 13 Premier League games. But Kane has been in electric form in recent months and is now on 22 strikes in all competitions.

Kane did not get on the scoresheet at the weekend, although he did put in a sublime display as Tottenham thrashed Newcastle 5-1.

The England international put a dangerous ball into the Newcastle box, allowing Matt Doherty to give Tottenham a 2-1 lead.

Kane then sent Dejan Kulusevski off down the right wing, allowing him to cross for Heung-min Son and the South Korean to finish.

The 28-year-old has a contract with Spurs lasting until 2024. But if their trophy drought continues then he could leave for a rival Premier League club.

Souness reckons Kane should ask for reassurance over the direction Spurs are heading in. That will then allow him to decide where his future lies.

“If I’m Harry, I’ll be saying to the manager, ‘have you got money to spend? You will make this current group better’,” Souness told Sky Sports (via the Mirror).

“The manager isn’t going to hang around here if he hasn’t got the money to spend. The manager wants to be winning trophies, league titles, Champions Leagues, not settling for fifth or sixth.

“We don’t know what Harry and the club have agreed. Harry will be facing a dilemma at the end of the season.

“Tottenham are working under a good coach and will improve, if they get the right backing they’ll be a real strength going forward.”
