Graeme Souness praises Jack Grealish Man City performance but reminds him of invitation

Jack Grealish will tell you that he is his own worst critic - well, perhaps Graeme Souness just shades it. Souness has not shied away from criticising the Manchester City attacker since his £100m move from Aston Villa last year, and over the past few weeks the dialogue between the pair has heated up with Grealish hitting back.

When speaking to the media while away on international duty with England last month, Grealish admitted he wasn't sure what Souness' 'problem' was, but that he knows himself that he has plenty more to give in both a City and England shirt.

Souness responded while on talkSPORT, inviting Grealish on a night out - something of a thinly-veiled dig given Grealish is no stranger to enjoying Manchester's nightlife.

"I'd love a night out with Jack!" said Souness. "I'm not sure I could stay with him, but I'd love a night out with him!"

To this Grealish responded that he would take up the former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder's offer, but only if he can bring Paul Pogba as a plus one. Souness was highly critical of Pogba during his six-year spell at Manchester United.

Fast-forward to Sunday and Grealish came up with the perfect response in City's 6-3 demolition of neighbours United. The 27-year-old was at times unplayable as an Erling Haaland and Phil Foden-inspired City went to town against their lacklustre opponents.

Grealish got United right-back Diego Dalot booked with barely a minute on the clock, and played a key role in dragging defenders out of position and creating spaces for City to attack.

Even Souness was impressed by the England star's performance.
