Graeme Souness lets rip at Alfredo Morelos as Rangers hero urges Ibrox club to 'cut their losses'

Graeme Souness says the time is now for Rangers to sell Alfredo Morelos after another red card on Saturday.

The Colombian international has scored over 100 times for the Light Blues since joining in 2017 but picked up an eighth red card for a flailing arm to Matija Cabraja's face during Saturday's 2-2 Premiership draw at Hibs. It left Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men in a perilous position, with John Lundstram already dismissed for a foul on Martin Boyle, which Rangers are appealing.

Rumours on Morelos leaving Govan have never been far away and now he has a year left on his contract. Former manager Souness, speaking on talkSPORT, believes the forward is a liability who can't be trusted to deliver when it matters most. A sale has been suggested ahead of the transfer window shutting on September 1st. He said: "What's in his head? The ball is played to him, he puts a feeler out and then he has another go.

"If you do that, you will get sent off. It comes to a point where you need to cut your losses with a player like that, in my opinion. Your are picking him to go to Celtic in a volatile atmosphere, and you don't know what you are going to get.

"I think it's a fact you can' trust him. You can't trust him in the big games. He gets goals but if Rangers are offered money for him, I'd be taking it. He's got to be cuter. He's not in the slightest. He has not learned his lesson, so I think Rangers should look to cash in, as you won't win the big games with 10 men. The hard facts are if you get sent off eight times is that it suggests you are not learning."
