Gombe United hit Enyimba 2-0 as Plateau United down Heartland
Defending champions, Enyimba of Aba, began their quest for another Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) crown on a losing note, yesterday, losing 0-2 to Gombe United in their week two game.
The Peoples Elephant, who have already been knocked out of the CAF Champions League, succumbed to goals from the boots of Ahmed Jimoh in the 43rd and 90th minutes.
In other matches yesterday, Niger Tornadoes defeated Rivers United 1-0, Plateau United were 1-0 better than Heartland, while Lobi Stars edged a goals filled encounter with Sunshine Stars 3-2.
Remo Stars beat Enugu Rangers 2-1, Bendel Insurance defeated 3SC 2-0, Akwa United were held to a goalless draw by new boys, Sporting Lagos, Kano Pillars beat neighbours, Katsina United 1-0, while Kwara United defeated Abia Warriors 1-0.
