Goldberg: Fresh update on Hall of Famer’s WWE contract
WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg may not have wrestled his last match with WWE after not ruling out a comeback with the company.
We last saw Goldberg in a WWE ring when he wrestled Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in February. It was believed then that this was his final WWE match, after his contract had expired with the company.
The 55-year-old teased prior to his meeting with Reigns teased an in-ring retirement, however, there has yet to be any confirmation or clarification of whether we’d see the former Universal Champion compete again.
In a new interview with The New York Post, Goldberg revealed that his still signed with WWE and his now just waiting on a call to see when he may be needed for something again.
I’m still waiting for that one (call) to happen one of these days, but I suppose you never retire in the wrestling world until you’re dead, so who knows.
During the interview, the WCW icon went on to explain how his shoulder is ‘absolutely destroyed’ but that he doesn’t feel the injury will require surgery. He also spoke about the work he’s put in to make sure his body is in the best shape it can be, in case he’s required by WWE.
I have worked my ass off day, after day, after day to get to a point where I feel almost normal again. I just kind of needed that break. I needed the mental focus of understanding that surgery wasn’t an option at the time and I needed to put my ass to the grindstone.
WWE could be tempted to pick up the phone for the 23 September episode of SmackDown, which falls nicely on the week of the 25th anniversary of Goldberg’s televised debut for WCW and in the same city of Salt Lake.
Given we’d already seen John Cena’s anniversary celebrated and we expect WWE to do something for Rey Mysterio
