Gold reveals one thing 'some within the club' want Conte to copy from Pochettino at Spurs

There are some people within Tottenham Hotspur who believe the group of players may need a softer approach than the one Antonio Conte is providing. 

This claim emerged from journalist Alasdair Gold, who was speaking on his YouTube channel amid the north London club’s run of inconsistency.

With Spurs struggling to register two wins in a row, Conte’s frustrations have been made public through some of his press conferences with the media.

And it is apparent some people within the club feel the approach from the 52-year-old may not be the best method to get the most out of his younger players.

The Italian had a bright start to life in north London with Spurs going unbeaten in his opening nine league games, however, Gold feels there are some concerns among people at the club.

He said: “There’s some within the club that feel like because it’s a younger group that maybe these players just need that arm around their shoulder like [Mauricio Pochettino] used to do. That was very much his style of management.

“And obviously, he was probably the last one to get a decent bit of consistency out of Tottenham – mainly the season he finished second to, yes, Antonio Conte’s Chelsea, was probably the most consistent they’ve been.

“Although I’d suggest that that loving arm around the shoulder – that was as far as they could get, because maybe they didn’t then have that mental kind of steel, I suppose, to go to the next level.”
