Gogglebox fans baffled as Ellie and Izzi joined by new family member on Channel 4 show

Gogglebox fans were in for a surprise just minutes into the show when Ellie and Izzi were joined by an unexpected guest on their sofa - a live chicken.

The Leeds sisters, who have been part of the Channel 4 favourite since series six in 2015, graced our screens again on Friday night, delighting viewers with their comical takes on the week's popular TV shows and films.

As the opening credits rolled to a close, Ellie, aged 34, left viewers gobsmacked as she was spotted cradling a chicken on her lap.

It seemed the chicken wasn't just a novelty for viewers, as Izzi appeared quite comfortable with the feathered visitor, eagerly asking how to hold it.

Initially, Izzi seemed up for the challenge, declaring: "Ok I'll pick her up from the floor." However, she quickly reconsidered, admitting: "Actually no I can't do it. I can't pick up a chicken."

Reaching down to the chicken, she said: "Ok let me try again." Despite her best efforts, things didn't go as planned and the chicken began to flap its wings, prompting Ellie to intervene.

Viewers at home were left scratching their heads over the scene, quickly taking to Twitter to express their thoughts.

One viewer tweeted: "Just a random chicken in the front room, as you do
