“Goes back to Crystal Palace” - Journalist drops fresh transfer verdict on £27m-rated ace

Crystal Palace supporters would welcome former ‘fan’s favourite’ Aaron Wan-Bissaka back to the club this summer, according to pundit Carlton Palmer.

The defender has been linked with a return to his boyhood club in recent weeks after falling down the pecking order at Manchester United following the arrival of interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

Wan-Bissaka left Palace for United in July 2019 via a £50 million move, but after making a strong start to life with the Red Devils, he’s failed to live up to expectations of late.

The former England Under-21 international has failed to register a single goal or assist in his 26 appearances this season and has only started five of the Old Trafford outfit’s previous 18 Premier League fixtures.

That has led to speculation that Wan-Bissaka, who is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt, could be one of the first players out of the exit door when incoming boss Erik ten Hag takes over the reins at United.

According to BBC Sport, Palace are ‘considering’ a move for their academy graduate, with a loan deal believed to be more likely due to the full-back’s sizeable wages.

Ten Hag has not had a chance to assess the playing squad in the red half of Manchester yet, although there are already doubts over Wan-Bissaka’s suitability for his style of play.

Palmer told GiveMeSport: “I think they would (welcome Wan-Bissaka back). I mean, he was a fan’s favourite when he was there. We’ll have to wait and see what Ten Hag thinks about him as a football player.
