GMB's Susanna Reid interviews Boris Johnson live - updates

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is to be interviewed live on Good Morning Britain by Susanna Reid this morning (Tuesday, May 3). The last time he was on the ITV breakfast show was in 2017 when he was foreign secretary.

Infamously, the PM almost appeared on GMB in December 2019 when he was seen walking away from cameras and appeared to hide in an industrial fridge to avoid being interviewed. GMB's Ranvir Singh made another attempt to get the PM on the programme in October 2021 at the Conservative Party conference, but was met with a raised hand as he walked off.

Reid, 51, will interview Mr Johnson, 57, live from 10, Downing Street from 8.15am. The interview comes just days before local elections on Thursday (May 5) and in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the cost of living crisis, and a series of controversies for the PM and his Conservative Party, including partygate and his own lockdown fine.

Former GMB presenter Piers Morgan, who was on the show at the time of Mr Johnson's fridge incident, tweeted on Monday after hearing of the PM's scheduled interview: “He’s out of the fridge! If you’re doing the rounds @BorisJohnson – you know where to find me.”
