Glastonbury organisers give update on when next fallow year will be

Glastonbury Festival organisers have given an update into when the next fallow year will take place. The festival usually takes place four out of every five years - with the fifth year a fallow year to give the land time to recover.

The last time there was a fallow year was in 2018 - however the festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to the BBC’s Sidetracked podcast earlier this month, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis discussed when the festival is likely to next take a year out. Asked if she had plans for the 2025 line-up she said: "Not yet, we are talking to people.

“The thing with line-ups is, you think its looking one way and then it changes. So at the moment I would say no, but I have a vague idea in my head of who is going to be doing it next year.

“Then we might do a fallow year after that, we are due a fallow year.

Emily added: “The fallow year is important because it gives the land a rest, and it gives the cows a chance to be out for longer and reclaim their land."

Giving a fresh update to The Sun on Sunday Emily said: "(It will) give the land a rest. The festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan, because you almost have to fit two years into one.

"We're already in talks with some acts for it. It's exciting!"

This year's festival was headlined by singer Dua Lipa, SZA and Coldplay.
