Girl, 7, and boy, 11, killed as woman, 49, arrested for double murder in Stoke-on-Trent
Staffordshire Police have confirmed that the two victims in a suspected double murder on Sunday include a seven-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy.
It comes after a 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder after officers found the two children with 'significant' injuries at a home in Flax Street, Stoke-on-Trent. A man in his 40s was previously taken to hospital by paramedics with non-life threatening injuries after being stabbed at a car wash and has since been released.
The victims' next of kin have been informed and are reportedly being supported by specially trained officers.

On Sunday evening, Detective Superintendent Nicki Addison, of Staffordshire Police, said: "This is a tragic case and we are working hard to understand more about what happened leading up to these two people losing their lives. We ask that people do not speculate on the circumstances at this stage as it is distressing for family and friends, and could hinder our enquiries.
"We understand that this incident may cause concern in the local community and further afield. We know that the woman arrested is related to the people and we don't believe there is wider threat to the public at this time."
