Giovanni Pernice announces TV return and says 'finally I'm back on the dancefloor'

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Giovanni Pernice has announced he will be returning to TV as he gave fans an 'exciting' career update.

It was announced in June that Giovanni hadn't been invited back as a professional for the Strictly Come Dancing 2024 series, which begins in just a matter of days on September 14.

However on Saturday, the 34-year-old dancer confirmed he would be taking part in the forthcoming series of Ballando con le Stelle - the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars.

Giovanni made the announcement in an Instagram video filmed in Portofino where he is holidaying with his family. Accompanying the post he wrote: "I’m delighted to announce that from next week I will be joining the cast of @ballandoconlestelle - the Italian Dancing with the Stars. I can’t wait to get started and to get back to dancing for all of you! Thank you for all of your continued support!"

Speaking to the camera he added: "I am here to give you some exciting news because I can finally reveal that from next week I will be joining the cast of Ballando con le Stelle.

"I am excited because finally I'm back on the dancefloor and hopefully I will create some new magic on the dancefloor. I am very very happy about it."

Giovanni was seemingly axed from BBCs Strictly Come Dancing amid allegations of "threatening and abusive behaviour" towards his former celebrity partners.
