Gio van Bronckhorst slams Rangers over Celtic deja vu as furious boss can't explain derby horror show

Giovanni van Bronckhorst slammed his Rangers defence for failing to learn from their previous Parkhead mistakes to gift Celtic three goals in their 4-0 derby demolition. The Ibrox gaffer admitted history repeated itself after the game followed a similar pattern to their thrashing at the hands of their rivals back in February.

Liel Abada scored either side of Jota’s sublime strike in the first half with substitute David Turnbull completing the rout late on after a Jon McLaughlin howler. But Van Bronckhorst was left raging at the manner they conceded some of the goals after admitting they identified the Hoops quick thinking at set pieces as an obvious danger.

Speaking in his post match interview following the defat that leaves his side trailing by five points, the Dutchman told Sky Sports: “Of course, I’m vey disappointed with the result and the way we conceded the goals. It was a repeat of the game we played in February with a quickly taken throw-in and free kick. We knew that’s one of their strengths and both times we weren’t ready and conceded the goals.

“You know when when you concede early goals like that then you make them stronger and more difficult for yourself. So we’re disappointed with that and of course disappointed with the result. That’s the thing I feel now.

“We prepared for these moments - that they were able to be dangerous and we weren’t ready so that’s very disappointing. You want to play a good game. Of course, you can always have goals against you but not in this manner. That’s not the way we concede goals.
