Gillingham sign Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer on an emergency seven-day loan
Gillingham have signed Ashley Maynard-Brewer on an emergency seven-day loan.
The Gills were waiting on the fitness of Southampton loanee Ollie Wright but have decided against risking him in their League 2 opener with Walsall on Saturday.
Maynard-Brewer joins on loan from Sheffield Wednesday and will go straight into the starting XI against Walsall.
The 27-year-old had a loan spell with the Gills in the 2022/23 season under Neil Harris but never made a first-team appearance after dislocating his shoulder in a pre-season friendly at Dover. It was a season-long loan but Charlton recalled him in November.
Gillingham fielded Owen Mason on an emergency loan from Mansfield in the Carabao Cup defeat to Luton last weekend but Mason has since joined Bromley on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.
