Gillingham’s B team take on Dartford in a friendly at Priestfield Stadium

Gillingham’s B team players get the opportunity to put on a show at Priestfield tonight.

The Gills have arranged a game with National South side Dartford and first-team boss Neil Harris hopes a strong team comes down for the match.

Last week Harris watched his young group take on Millwall in a game behind closed doors but fans are welcome to attend this one, with tickets costing £5.

Looking ahead to the match, Harris said: “It’s an opportunity to come and watch the younger players and you don't always get a chance, other than in the youth cup to watch the under-18s play.

“There will be some under-18s, some under-19 and 20-year-olds and a couple of first-team players will get a runout as well, who need some minutes.

“It's not it's not about winning or losing. It's not about beating Dartford and we hope they bring a really strong side so it is a really good game for us.

“It is an opportunity for the lads to get minutes and for us to get eyes on how the younger players are developing.

“We’re not expecting a seriously big crowd but it will be on the first team pitch, in the right environment, with hundreds of people here and it’s brilliant, it’s the way it should be done at times.

“It’s a chance to come and watch a game of football and enjoy it without the stress of whether we’re winning or losing and they are nice games to watch.

“We played Millwall last Tuesday and what a game of football, really aggressive, 100mph game of football, a proper game of football for our young lads to play in.”

B team regulars for the Gills include Ike Orji, Josh Chambers, Matty Macarthur, Sam Gale, Alex Giles, Ronald Sithole and Kieron Agbebi, while striker Lewis Walker could get more minutes
