Gillingham midfielder Robbie McKenzie looks ahead to playing Crewe after scoring the equalising goal against Walsall on Tuesday
Gillingham’s man-of-the-moment Robbie McKenzie hopes their midweek performance and his super strike is something for them to build on.
McKenzie’s stunning finish from 30 yards was a must-see effort viewed by thousands on social media, a goal that clinched a point for the Gills at league leaders Walsall and capped a positive performance.
Building on that midweek outing will now be key for the Gills and they take on Crewe today (Saturday) at Priestfield.
“It's something to build on,” said the midfielder.
“I feel like Tuesday night’s performance was more of what we want and how we want to play. A point was the least we deserved.
“We've got a little bit of confidence back.
“I'd say it was one of the better (performances this season). It was more of a fully-team performance.
“We all pulled together and now that's got to be our baseline of what we're going to perform like until the end of the season.”
