Gillingham manager John Coleman shows appreciation to the 402 away fans at Carlisle United on Saturday
Manager John Coleman thanked the fantastic fans who backed his Gillingham side at Carlisle United on Saturday.
Just over 400 were in the away seats at Brunton Park to watch the goalless draw.
There were some nervy moments for those supporters as Carlisle stepped it up in the second half but Gillingham hung on for a point, one that leaves them sitting 19th in the table.
With promotion hopes ended for another season, the fact so many fans made the 350-mile journey was something Coleman appreciated.
He said: “For our travelling fans to have come in those numbers was so admirable.
“Seven hours, fantastic people and I can't thank them enough.
“The support was very, very much appreciated by both the staff and the players.
“We're just desperate to get that win for them.”
Thank you to the 4️⃣0️⃣2️⃣ #Gills fans that made the long journey to Brunton Park today.
Your support was incredible and we wish you all a safe journey home
