Gillingham look to hit back this weekend when they take on MK Dons in League 2 at Priestfield

Manager Neil Harris is looking forward to getting back on home soil this Saturday.

The Gills are enjoying their best form at Priestfield recently, returning from Crewe on Tuesday with a third straight loss on their travels in League 2.

While the Gills have been dropping points more regularly, after a super start, weekend visitors MK Dons are without a win in six after starting the season with four wins from their first five games.

MK Dons and the Gills shared the top two places in the table at the end of August but head into Saturday’s encounter both outside the top seven.

Harris said: “We are back at Priestfield where, barring a mad 15 minutes against Colchester (where the Gills suffered a 3-0 defeat), we have been excellent.

“We will look forward to our home comforts again and I am sure there will be a reaction from the group from the first whistle.

“At home we have been exceptional, on the road we have had three really good wins but we can’t go to Crewe and lose games like that if we want to be a top-seven side.”

Harris was frustrated at missed chances and being “bullied” for the Crewe opener. The home side got a second late on as the Gills committed men forward.

He said: “I keep talking about it being a tough league, we know that, but Crewe didn’t do exceptional play to cut through us and open us up. Mansfield did last Saturday, a very good side, Stockport will do it for the rest of the season but we have to be better than that.

“They didn’t hurt us with exceptional play or good individual play, we have handed them goals and not been clinical enough at the other end, we have to find the answer for that.”

MK Dons could include former Gills player Jack Tucker in their side on Saturday.
