Gillingham confirm pre-season games at Ebbsfleet United and Chatham Town while Dover Athletic announce game at Crabble too

Gillingham’s pre-season schedule is starting to take shape with several Kent opponents already lined up for the summer.

The Gills are set to visit some familiar venues for warm-up games as manager Gareth Ainsworth plots a promotion challenge in League 2.

Last summer’s schedule started with tough games against Championship sides Millwall and Watford at Priestfield before facing Dartford, Southend and Woking away.

The Gills confirmed their first senior friendly on Monday, playing away against Ebbsfleet United on Tuesday, July 22 (7pm).

Fleet are managed by former Gills captain Josh Wright and he’ll be looking to rebuild after this season’s relegation from the National League, finishing bottom of the table with just three wins in 46 games.

Dover Athletic have also announced their summer friendly opponents - which includes a visit from the Gills on Tuesday, July 8 (7.30pm).

Jake Leberl’s side won promotion this season after beating Ady Pennock’s Dartford in the Isthmian Premier Division play-off final - just a year after Whites’ relegation from the National League South.

The Gills have been regular visitors to Crabble for pre-season games.

Isthmian Premier Division side Chatham Town have also been welcoming hosts of the Gills during pre-season in recent years.

The Gills will be sending a team to the Bauvill Stadium for a game on Friday, July 25.

Chats have an exciting schedule lined up with Coventry City also sending a team to Medway on Saturday, July 12 while League 2 Bromley visit on Tuesday, July 29.
