Giddey adds to triple-double tally in NBA
Australian teenager Josh Giddey has continued to rewrite the NBA record books, posting his second triple-double in Oklahoma City's loss to Chicago.
At 19 years and 84 days, Giddey became the youngest play in NBA history to register a triple-double.
And a month after he recorded 17 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 14 assists against the Dallas Mavericks, Giddey is also the second-youngest to achieve the feat.
Giddey brought up the achievement for a second time with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in 33 minutes in the Thunder's 106-101 loss to the Chicago Bulls on the road.
In doing so, Giddey joins Luka Doncic as the only players with multiple NBA triple-doubles as teenagers.
Giddey was one assist short of his latest accomplishment as he sat on the bench before he returned to the court with 4:15 left to play.
His assist for a Luguentz Dort three-pointer with 2:28 remaining sealed the deal.
"I thought he was really good tonight," Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said.
"I was impressed with his poise tonight. I thought he had a pretty contagious style."
To cap a brilliant rookie season, Giddey has been picked in the All-Star Rising Stars game and Skills Challenge after averaging 12.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 6.1 assists across 51 starts.
In other games, Stephen Curry made a clutch layup with 46 seconds remaining as the Golden State Warriors held off the Los Angeles Lakers 117-115, spoiling another scoring milestone by LeBron James.
James had 26 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, but missed the first free throw after Curry fouled him attempting a three-pointer with 2.4 seconds left.
He made the second and missed the third intentionally but couldn't chase down the rebound in time to get a shot off.
