Gerwyn Price determined to spoil Luke Littler's Scottish darts debut with Premier League defeat

Gerwyn Price reckons he can bring a quickfire end to Luke Littler ’s Scottish debut.

The Welsh wonder faces the darting sensation in the quarter-finals of Premier League night three at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro. Littler is lighting up the game and Price is full of admiration for the outstanding impact the teenager is having on darts. However, the 2021 World Champion has the kid in his sights as he gets set for Scotland.

Price said: “He’s young, he’s 17, he’s got no scars yet and he’s just playing with a bit of freedom. He just keeps on going out there playing darts like he has before. He doesn’t feel any pressure on his shoulders and just relishes it. When I see him in and around the practice room and the way he approaches everything, that’s the way I was in the beginning and I think that’s perfect for him.

“He just gives everything on the dartboard and doesn’t care about anything else. He’s already used to playing the same players every week now. It’s not going to bother him at all.”

Littler has flourished since his run to the World Final with wins in Bahrain and he hit a second nine-darter of his year in winning Monday’s first Players Championship event of the season. However, Littler lost the Cardiff semi-final to Michael Smith on night one of the Premier League and was beaten last week in the Final of night two in Berlin by Michael van Gerwen.

Price believes he can also halt Littler as, speaking to SportsBoom.com, he stated: “I’m looking forward to playing him and still fancy my chances.”
