Gerwyn Price is having a sensational week at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool as he looks to win his maiden World Matchplay crown to add to his already impressive major title haul.

Not only has he reached the final in incredible form, but after Peter Wright’s earlier exit to Dimitri Van den Bergh in the quarter finals, the Iceman is back to the summit of the world rankings.

Although, the world number one would much rather have the Matchplay trophy in his cabinet rather than the world number one tag. He has the small task of Michael van Gerwen standing in his way of the title, with the Dutchman looking for his hat-trick of World Matchplay crowns after victories in 2015 and 2016.

The former world champion has been entertaining fans all week with back-to-back ton plus averages in the quarter final and semi-final as he edged out Jose de Sousa and then in dispatching Danny Noppert.

On his way to a 102.37 winning average, the former world champion hit perfection, treating all those in attendance to a nine-darter in the 13th leg, unlucky for some, but not Price!

After hitting back-to-back maximums, he opted for the conventional route for the 141, ending on double 12. However, instead of going for the treble 20 first he went for the treble 19 to leave himself on 84.
