Ger Brennan replaces Mickey Harte as Louth boss
Ger Brennan has been appointed as the new manager of Louth following Mickey Harte's dramatic departure last month.
The three-time All-Ireland winning manager had committed for the season with the Wee County but instead opted to join Derry on a three-year term.
Louth sounded out a number of candidates in the aftermath but following discussions, Brennan has emerged as the leading contender and will take charge for a two-year term with an option for a third.
He will bring in former Down All-Ireland winner James McCartan and DCU professor Niall Moyna as selectors, while David Whyte will serve as transitional coach, Paul O'Flynn as pscyhologist and James Downey will be high performance and culture coach.
The two-time All-Ireland winner with Dublin was close to succeeding Seamus McEnaney as Monaghan manager in 2022 while he has also been recently linked with the vacant position in Laois.
The St Vincent’s clubman made his Dublin debut in 2007 before retiring in 2015.
Since then, he spent a season as coach of Carlow under Niall Carew, has coached Wicklow outfit Bray Emmet’s while he is also in his second season as manager of Kildare club Moorefield.
Their championship season ended last weekend as they lost 1-12 to 0-08 to three-in-a-row chasing Naas at the quarter-final stage.
Elsewhere, former Derry footballer Conleith Gilligan has been added to the Armagh coaching team. It comes on the back of Kieran Donaghy confirming that he will remain involved for a fourth season.
