Georgia's Charlie Condon sets NCAA mark with 34th home run - ESPN

Georgia slugger Charlie Condon slugged his 34th home run of the season Thursday night against South Carolina to set the NCAA record for most home runs in a season in the BBCOR era.

Condon launched a solo shot in the second inning to break a tie with Florida's Jac Caglianone, who had 33 home runs last season. BBCOR (bat-ball coefficient restitution) took effect for the 2011 season, when college baseball switched to composite bats.

Oklahoma State's Pete Incaviglia holds the all-time single-season record with 48 home runs in 1985.

Condon, a redshirt sophomore third baseman/outfielder, is ESPN insider Kiley McDaniel's No. 1 draft prospect and projected as the No. 2 overall pick in this year's MLB draft.

Thursday marked his eighth straight game with a home run, one game shy of matching the NCAA record held by Caglianone and Nevada's Tyler Bosetti. Condon has 59 career home runs, the most in Georgia history.

The Bulldogs won 14-10 on Thursday.
