George Byers shares message as he reflects on Sheffield Wednesday’s latest victory

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder George Byers has taken to Twitter to reflect on the club’s latest victory in League One.

The 25-year-old was handed a third consecutive start by Owls boss Darren Moore in the club’s clash with Wigan Athletic last night and went on to help his side clinch all three points at Hillsborough.

Having secured victories over Ipswich Town, Morecambe and Burton Albion in recent weeks, Wednesday managed to send out a real signal of intent to the rest of the division by defeating a Latics side who currently occupy second place in the League One standings.

Jordan Storey went close to opening the scoring for the Owls in the opening stages of the game as he headed wide from Jack Hunt’s corner.

Marvin Johnson then had an effort parried into the direction of Florian Kamberi by Will Amos but the Swiss forward was unable to convert the rebound.

Following the break, Wednesday scored what turned out to be the winning goal from the penalty spot as Barry Bannan slotted home.

As a result of this victory, the Owls moved to within one point of the play-off places in League One.

After the game, Byers took to Twitter to offer his thoughts on the fixture.
