George Burgess left out of Dragons side over police charges after being named in extended squad
Dragons prop George Burgess will not play in Thursday's game against Cronulla despite being named in an extended squad on Tuesday.
On Monday, Burgess was charged with «sexually touching another person without consent», relating to an incident where a woman alleged she had been sexually touched by a man known to her on March 8.
The Dragons on Tuesday named Burgess in their 24-man squad to take on the Sharks in Wollongong, saying the club had not yet received «the necessary and required information pertaining to the Burgess matter and therefore cannot come to a decision on the player's availability».
«The Dragons will continue to work closely with all relevant parties, including the NRL integrity unit and police, to determine the next steps surrounding this matter,» a statement read.
But on Wednesday, Dragons coach Anthony Griffin said Burgess would not be in the final match day 17 to face the Sharks in Wollongong.
More to come.
