Genius: Kieran Devlin reveals 'essential' tweak Ange made at Celtic

Kieran Devlin has taken to Twitter to point out a slight change Ange Postecoglou made prior to Celtic’s victory yesterday.

Celtic managed to pick up a massive three points on Sunday afternoon when they beat Livingston 3-1 away from home, which was the first time they’d tasted league success at the Tony Macaroni Arena since March 2006.

To pull off such a result, Postecoglou would have known he’d need his players on form and asked them to switch things up slightly to what the Australian had got them to do so far this season.

Devlin highlighted that Celtic were more physical in their approach to the game, while Daizen Maeda was ‘essential’ in disrupting the opposition’s rhythm during the match.

He wrote on Twitter: “Yesterday was not a U-turn on Postecoglou’s philosophy, but an adjustment to the specific, ominous task of Livingston away – and the game plan worked well. They were much more physically aggressive, while Maeda was essential in disrupting Livi’s rhythm.”

Playing after their league and title rivals, Celtic and Postecoglou will have known the pressure was on for them to pick up a positive result and ensure their lead at the top of the league table was maintained – and that’s exactly what they did.

For Devlin to pick out Maeda as a key man in the club’s latest victory will surely be huge for the striker given his tough start life at Celtic Park, having netted just twice in his previous seven league games, which could be seen as underperforming, especially when he is trying to fill the void left by Kyogo Furuhashi.
